Provide pastoral care to patients/residents and their loved ones throughout Knute Nelson’s continuum of care, and, as appropriate, staff. This includes providing worship and study opportunities, word and sacrament ministry. Learn and understand who each patient/resident is as a person, his/her concerns, needs, and wishes and ministers according to their desires to ensure that their religious and spiritual needs are met. Serve as liaison with the religious community.
Must be an ordained Lutheran pastor.
Endorsement standards: Must have congregation of service of 3 years. Must have a Bachelors and Graduate degree in Theology. Board Certified Chaplain (BCC) certification is preferred. Must have two units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or equivalent (one unit of CPE emphasizing ministry with the elderly is desirable). Must have a certificate of competence or be eligible for certification, preferably through recognized professional chaplain organizations; such as Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) or the American Association of Pastoral Counselors (AAPC) is acceptable.
