Location: Our Savior’s Lutheran Church – Barnesville, MN (302 3rd St NE)
The “parish” model of ministry is based on financial necessity and/or limited numbers and often operating with a survival-mode mentality as the primary motivation. This model often leads us to the idea that we are islands unto ourselves. All are invited to share in the conversation about how we can do church better, together.
Register here: https://nwmnsynod.regfox.com/conference-5-gathering
Cost: $20 per congregation
Bring as many people from your church as you like but please register online so we can plan appropriately and provide the necessary resources for everyone.
Keynote Presenter: Pr. Philip Blom
With 37 years of ordained ministry, Pastor Phil Blom’s diverse background includes serving an ecumenical, rural, four-point parish; working as a pastor developer; serving in solo and senior pastorates at medium and large churches; and interim ministries. Pastor Phil’s service also includes 28 years as a military chaplain – serving in the U.S.A.F. Reserves and teaching Core Values for Leadership at the U.S. Air Force Academy. He earned the nickname “Disaster Pastor” when he was called to serve following the flood of ’97 in Grand Forks, N.D.; after 9/11 and his call as the Crisis Action Team Chaplain to the Pentagon, Washington D.C.; Hurricane Katrina and Gulf Coast recovery efforts; natural disaster recovery efforts following the Duluth flood of 2012; and in 2013 the New London, Wisc. and Washington, Ill. tornados, and the Colorado flood. Phil’s hope is to bring “Good News in the midst of Bad News in the News.”
For Phil, two retirements have opened opportunities to be “Reinspired.” As such, Pastor Phil has served the Healthy Leaders Initiative and teaching the Wholeness Wheel. His source of motivation and inspiration is found in 3 John 2: “Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and you may have good health just as it is well with your soul.”
Currently, Pastor Phil consults with congregations and staffs for renewal, vision and mission development.
