July 24 - 27
Charlotte Convention Center - Charlotte, NC
Your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to live in.
Join us for a weekend of learning, inspiring speakers, worship and service in the largest gathering of women in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Experience enriching workshops, stirring worship, engaging Bible studies and much more!
The theme for this Gathering is “OF MANY GENERATIONS” and we are encouraging families of mothers, daughters, granddaughters, and friends we call sisters to attend this special event together to worship, learn and enjoy the sights of this beautiful city full of southern hospitality. Workshops will offer you sides of issues you may not have known about and exposing you to women of other cultures and life experiences. The worship experience is amazing. Start saving now to so you can be part of this revitalizing weekend which will feed your soul.
- Our newly elected Bishop, Rev. Elizabeth Eaton will be one of our speakers.
- Becca Stevens… bringing a servant’s heart to our multi-generational conversations. An Episcopal priest serving as chaplain at Vanderbilt University, Stevens founded a community and social enterprise for women in need.
- Susan Sparks… keeping us laughing, giving life to the adage “there’s truth in jest.” A stand-up comedian and trial lawyer, Sparks is also pastor of the historic Madison Avenue Baptist Church in New York City and offers a comedy course to clergy of every faith.
Delegates from NW Minnesota Synod will be elected at our convention in Fergus Falls, these people will go a few days early to do the business of the Women of the ELCA and finish up about the time we are arriving.
Airplane travel may be expensive, but it is quicker. Look ahead for air travel fares and plan to stay a few extra days to enjoy the area around Charlotte on special tours. Also booking your airline travel early will also save you money.
Our synod is raising money to pay the airfare for a woman from our sister synod in Andhra, India to attend.
Please choose a hotel on the reserved list as special rooms have been saved for this event and they are in walking distance from the convention center. Hotels with special rates are being reserved close to the convention center. Ardys Horner has blocked off rooms at the Omni Charlotte, only one person needs to reserve the room for your group. If you have family in Charlotte, of course, you can stay with them.
Please decide what workshop, special events, and tours of the area you are interested in before you go online to register. When you register please add 3D TGP so that the women in Chicago will let Ardys know you are going and we can arrange for roommates and also so you can receive your stipend from the Basket auction to help pay for expenses like room and food while there. Early registration ends January 4, 2014.
