Life Overflowing Series: The Next Generation

[Jesus said] "Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs."
- Mark 10:14

By virtue of their Baptism into Christ our children, of whatever age, are the church of today-along with all the rest of us "gray-hairs." We resist the notion that children and youth are merely "the church of tomorrow." And yet, these young ones are the next generation of God's church on earth, too. We thank God for an abundance of children to treasure today, to be formed into Christ, and to be prepared to serve God's mission.

Sometimes churches under-estimate their capacity to minister meaningfully among children and youth. "We could have a dynamic youth ministry if we just had more members and more dollars." But the best things we can offer our young ones don't cost much. In fact, some of the smallest congregations in our synod "shine" in the ways they treasure their children.

Leadership Program for Musicians
Continuing Education Opportunity

Registrations are currently being accepted.

LPM is a continuing education program for church musicians and pastors. Benefits include a deeper understanding of Christian music and worship and enhanced skills as a worship leader: pastor or musician. Ten sessions for the academic year (Sept-June) are held at host churches in the area. It is open to musicians, pastors and lay persons of any denomination.

An Update and Challenge from Our Charitable Gift Planner Bill Elmstrom

I believe when we have a personal investment in where our gifts go and who they support we tend to give more freely and our gifts grow even faster. Last fall at the Synod Theology for Ministry Conference at Fair Hills a pastor came up to me and asked me how I would help our congregations to increase stewardship. My reply was to tell the story of Jesus. The stories I am talking about do not come from the Bible, rather they come from Jesus working through us to provide for His ministries, “God’s Work – Our Hands” type of stories.
