The Division for Global Mission is responsible for this church's
mission outside the U.S.A. More than 400 ELCA missionaries and volunteers
are involved in evangelism, witness, justice, service, relief, and development
programs in 45 countries. The division cooperates with churches in other
countries, mission societies, agencies, institutions, and global mission
movements. The division allocates ELCA funds to combat hunger outside the
United States and is responsible for the church's international refugee
program. It shares with the Division for Outreach expertise gained from
intercultural experiences, and it cooperates with synods in global mission
interpretation and education activities among ELCA members.
