Rev. Rebel Hurd is a believer in the promise, a lover of people, and an equipper of leaders. Rebel was called to serve as the Director for Evangelical Mission in November of 2021 with the Northwestern MN Synod. She dreams of being the church with all of God’s people and leads with enthusiasm and passion for cultivating congregational vitality, fostering innovative outreach, and nurturing generosity.  

She is grounded in the Word, compassionate about ministries on the margins, respectful of tradition and history, and always curious about what God’s Holy Spirit is up to in our midst. Leading the Companion Synod Team is a highlight of her synod work, and she is looking forward to meeting the folks in India she has been working with and praying for to deepen our companion connection.  

Rebel is married to her husband of 29 years, Jeff, and they have three adult daughters. She loves to garden, take leisurely bike rides, listen to audiobooks, decorate, and go on walks with Jeff and their dachshund, Luna. Rebel and her family reside in Moorhead, MN, and are members of Trinity Lutheran Church.
