BIOGRAPHY FOR NW MN SYNOD
Pastor Dave began his ministry as part of the NW MN Synod in December 2020 with a call to serve at Messiah Lutheran Church in Roseau. With his arrival in Roseau, a shared leadership model for ministry began as Dave joined with Deacon Joanne, his wife and partner in all things, serving as a ministry team to Messiah Lutheran, Moe Lutheran, and Bethel Lutheran Churches of Roseau.
A 1980 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, Pastor Dave served as a commissioned officer and aviator in the United States Air Force for six years before attending seminary and being ordained in 1990. For the last 34 years, Pastor Dave has provided pastoral leadership in a variety of ministry settings, most recently serving for over 26 years as the Senior Pastor of a congregation in Bismarck, North Dakota.
Dave and Joanne have celebrated the joys of marriage and ministry for over 40 years and frequently can be found exploring some hidden trail in the Northwoods. They are blessed to share life with their son, Luke, who currently is training to become a Registered Nurse; as well as their daughter, Emelie, and husband, Bradley, who are the proud parents of Dave and Joanne’s delightful granddaughter, Lila.
