Dennis Preston is a retired pastor currently doing interim ministry. Dennis and his wife, Leila, live in Alexandria, Minnesota. Dennis has served 38 years as a parish pastor, serving 3 ½ years in Naples and Henry, SD; 10 ½ years in Hanska, MN – during this time they also spent a year in Norway exchanging pastoral positions with a pastor from Norway; 20 years in Brandon, MN; and most recently as interim pastor at Shalom Lutheran Church in Alexandria and Calvary Lutheran Church in Perham. Leila is a fiber artist specializing in woven banners, stoles and paraments for use in worship. Dennis seeks to shepherd congregations with the good news of God’s love, grace, and forgiveness. He likes to think of interim ministry as walking alongside congregations, individuals, and leaders to help them thrive and find joy in faithfully serving and building up the body of Christ, the church, as they prepare to welcome their next permanent pastor. Dennis’ interests include encouraging congregational leaders, care of creation, gardening, learning Spanish and exploring possibilities in Hispanic ministry. Leila and Dennis share a love of music, travel and a variety of outdoor activities.
