Growing leaders. Strengthening congregations. Serving our neighbors.
Across the Northwestern Minnesota Synod, we share in God’s work through ministries that equip leaders, encourage congregations, and deepen relationships with our neighbors. These initiatives offer a glimpse of that work—and the opportunities we have to support it together.
Jeremiah 29
Seeking the well-being of our communities
The Jeremiah 29 Project helps congregations and ministry leaders listen to their neighbors and invest in the places they call home. Through shared learning and locally developed projects, participants connect the life of the congregation with the well-being of the wider community.
Go for It Grants
Encouraging new possibilities for ministry
Sometimes a new ministry begins with a simple question: “What if we tried this?” Go for It Grants offer support for congregations ready to put a ministry idea into practice, respond to local needs, and explore new ways to share God’s love.
Seminary Debt Reduction Grants
Caring for those called to serve
The cost of seminary education can follow leaders long into their ministry. Seminary Debt Reduction Grants help ease that financial burden, offering practical support and encouragement to those serving the church.
Synod Authorized Ministry (SAM)
Synod Authorized Ministers are lay leaders prepared and authorized to serve in particular ministry settings. Through education, mentorship, and continuing formation, the synod supports these leaders as they provide spiritual leadership and serve alongside congregations.
FACES of Leadership
FACES of Leadership equips people across the synod through five areas of growth:
- Faith Practices
- Adaptive Leadership
- Coachability
- Emotional Intelligence
- Storytelling.
Together, these practices help leaders deepen their faith, build relationships, and respond thoughtfully to the challenges and opportunities of ministry.
White Earth Collaboration
Building relationships and supporting leadership
Through collaboration with the Episcopal Church in Minnesota and Indigenous faith leaders on White Earth, the synod shares in ministry grounded in listening, relationship, and learning together. This partnership supports local ministry and the development of theological education and leadership rooted in the community.
